Film Borat: Best Actor!

Posted by Erik Henriksen on Thu, Dec 14 at 2:23 PM

The Golden Globes are a joke. Put on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association—arguably the least credible group of journalists on the planet—the awards ceremony serves as an extended infomercial for Hollywood, full of various studio heads and filmmakers getting sore arms from patting themselves on the back so hard. (In other words, they’re kind of like the Oscars, but since the HFPA is famously ass-kissy, corrupt, and sell-outy, they’re somehow even less respectable.)

But still, okay, yes, the Golden Globe nominations came out today, and there’s at least one pretty hilarious thing on there: Sacha Baron Cohen being nominated for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical” and Borat getting nominated for “Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical.” I just saw Borat again last night, and it’s still funny as shit. So I’m all about Borat getting props, even if it’s from a bunch of junket-loving jackasses.
