I just wrapped up a piece on the new tram. Okay, to be fair, it’s a bit of a love letter—I’ve got a big crush on the thing, and I think it’s a harbinger of great things for Portland.
I was lucky enough to ride it a few weeks ago, and thank goodness. I’ll be out of town this weekend, when it officially opens to the public. Word is the free rides booked up in just two hours. Anyone score one of those golden tickets?
(P.S.—where can I find any gorgeous photos of those tram bubbles? Portlandtram.org is kinda dull.)
b!x beat me to it... but yeah. A search for [portland tram] on Flickr currently returns 573 photos...
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR FREE RIDES FOR OHSU FRIENDS AND FAMILY
Friends and family of OHSU employees can ride the Tram for free from Jan. 29 through Feb. 3. This provides a great opportunity to share the Tram with your family members while avoiding the lines expected for the “Lift Off” events on January 27th and 28th. More information about those special ridership days will be coming soon...
I have two tickets. Be sure when you get off at the Chameffu station (oh go ahead, try to Google that!) be sure to take a little wander through the halls and public areas on the 9th and 7th floors. There's plenty of interesting artwork to look at and some amazing views.
i'm so in love with the tram, my boyfriend's jealous. the first few days i was riding it to work at ohsu, i started pretty much every conversation with, "oh! and you know what else i like about the tram?!"
