No, I’m not going to comment on the Fred Phelps of the NBA. Fuck that dude.
Instead, I’ll focus on the positive, the 2006-2007 Portland Trail Blazers. It’s the midway point of the year, and our dearest Red & Black have more wins at this point than they did all of last year. While there are problems, last night’s game for example, this team is young and, at times, thrilling to watch, making the future of the Blazers something to really look forward to. While rookie Brandon Roy heads to Vegas to hit up All-Star weekend, the team if off until next Tuesday, when they play the Utah Jazz at home.
Hardaway was just stupid enough to actually open his mouth and say it--you think his views aren't shared by a whoooole lotta his colleagues? And fans? And sports radio show hosts?
I'm glad he opened his big, stupid, bigoted mouth and actually said it. It proves Amaechi's point that, at the very least, a "conversation" needs to start. Looks like Hardaway just got that conversation started.
I'm not sure how the rest of the conversation should go, other than, "Go to hell, you homophobic shitbag."
The fact that people seem to hate Zach because of his sexual exploits is puzzling and telling. Remember when Magic Johnson announced he had AIDS? He hurriedly explained he often had sex with several women at a time, as if his infidelity due to gang-bangs was much better than being a fag. But everyone swooned, and Clyde Drexler had to give up the spotlight at the all-star game to (a retired!) Magic. Nice.
Fuck Magic Johnson and fuck Tim Hardaway.
Oh, and a big 'Fuck You' to David Stern for putting Mehmet Okur in the all-star game over Zach. Yeah, that made sense.

It is definitely an encouraging year thus far. Roy is the real deal, Aldridge has shown flashes (and with playing time quite a bit of defense), and Outlaw looks like he could be a player someday as well. Webster has been a downer. Zach should have been an All-Star reserve, but ran too many trains in the offseason. All in all, I think next year we'll have a real shot at the playoffs and in a few years - IF we can develop or bring in a superstar caliber player - we'll have a shot at contention.
