If you owned a food company, and your products were suspected in a dozen deaths, would you test the toxicity of your food by giving it to even more people? Doesn’t that seem a little, I don’t know, barbaric and asinine? Wouldn’t you maybe use, say, laboratories to test the food?
According to the Associated Press, pet food company Menu Foods—whose wet food products are suspected of killing at least 10 pets around the country—tested their recalled products on 40 to 50 dogs and cats. And, hey, guess what happened? Seven of them died. So, by testing their food to see if it was leading to the deaths of cats and dogs, Menu Foods just raised the death toll by about 50 percent.
Brilliant.
Let’s make sure they stay out of the baby food business.
Dead pets=Sad pets
Here are links to the lists of brands Menu Foods is recalling: Dogs and cats.
So why isn't anyone asking why this is happening? What kind of crap are they putting in the food that's killing these pets? And besides a recall, what are they doing to stop it? I've always been suspicious of most store bought brands and when the (formerly trustworthy) Science Diet and Iams, were bought out, I quit feeding my pets their products. I'm glad the brand I buy isn't on the list, I was pretty sure it wouldn't be since I did a little research before I switched. It costs a bit more but it's worth it in the long run.
It doesn't count as animal abuse because when it's in the category of "animal testing" anything - and I mean anything - is fair game.
