As publishers begin to roll out their hot-shit summer fare, so too do they send their authors out on the road to promote their new books. This is good news for us, as May is the hottest month of 2007 so far when it comes to author events. Here are the choice readings for May (so far):

Wed May 2—Charles D’Ambrosio at PSU’s Smith Hall, Room 333, 7 pm
Chuck Palahniuk at the Bagdad Theater, 7 pm
Thurs May 3—The much-hyped Raw Shark Texts at Powell’s Hawthorne, 7:30 pm
Fri May 4Granta’s Best Young American Novelists 2 at Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 pm (read a good article about Granta’s selections here)
Sun May 6 Amy Fusselman, who’s supremely fascinating, at Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 pm
Mon May 7Marisha Pessl, the (hot) young author of Special Topics in Calamity Physics at Powells’ Beaverton, 7 pm
Tues May 8—Michael Chabon, author of Kavalier and Clay, reads from his supposedly excellent The Yiddish Policeman’s Union at Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 pm
Thurs May 10—New York Times puzzlemaster Will Shortz at the First Congregational Church
Tues May 15Sherman Alexie at Powell’s City of Books, 7:30 pm
Fri May 18—Miranda July reads from her first book at the First Congregational Church, 7 pm
Sun May 20—Colin Meloy interviews Lemony Snicket at Powell’s Beaverton, 5 pm
Mon May 21How Sassy Changed My Life, a moving tribute at Powell’s Hawthorne, 7:30 pm
