Portland Meat is Murder

Posted by Amy J. Ruiz on Fri, Apr 27 at 12:45 PM

Know that “We Love Vegetarians/More Meat for Us” billboard Matt posted about yesterday? The one that was tagged by someone not-too-thrilled with the pro-meat message? A commenter to that post has a new photo of the billboard, which has been further embellished.

Mary Sue says:

You know, as someone whose living room window has a clear view of this billboard… thanks for making it even uglier, jackholes. Now I not only have to see giant slabs of meat when I look out to check the weather, but graffiti, too.

From her Flickr page:

Since no one could read the handwriting on the original tag, I guess they decided they’d step it up.

Meat is Murder is the best Smith's album.

And for the record, I find that pedophile masquerading as a problem gambler on the adjacent billboard much more disturbing.

Meat is Murder is not the best Smith's album. Maybe if "How Soon is Now?" was cut out, like it was originally intended, it could be in the running, but that song in all its awkwardly sequenced glory ruins that album. Period.

That guy on the anti-gambling billboard a pedophile... I'll bet you five dollars he isn't...

It's not their best album, plus it only has ten songs. Weak. "Louder Than Bombs" is my fave, plus it has 24 songs.

Come on Ezra, Louder Than Bombs isn't a proper album. Veto.

Ok, can I change my vote to Singles?

No, wait, can I pick the Johnny Marr and The Healers album?

Everybody knows The Queen is Dead is the best.

BEST BUMPER STICKER EVER :

"If Meat is Murder, then what exactly is Abortion ?"

This was spotted right next to another sticker that said, "Pro-DEATH," on a beat-up muscle car driven by a tough-as-nails-looking older punker woman.

Of course, it wasn't in the uptight, vegan butt-cheek clenching PC Wonderland of Portland, Oregon.

Did you know that some hard-core feminists actually consider ALL sex of any kind between men and women RAPE? it's true, look it up.

hey, i got an idea. they should put up a billboard showing a man and woman embracing under the headlines "STOP ALL RAPE NOW"

and then they can sit back and see how many people they bring to their cause.

Smith albums, abortion, and rape? Maybe I need to look at the picture again...

I see this every day when I walk my dog. I'm simultaneously thrilled that someone had the balls to deface some bullshit attempt at "cleverly funny" advertising and sickened that the chuckling marketing directors back in the OBC office are toasting the fact that those dirty Sunnyside hippies took the bait like little floam-mouthed sharks.

Oh and my dog says the problem gambler is definitely a molester character actor. She's never wrong.

why would anyone care that an ADVERTISEMENT has been vandalized?

is it really just because of the law? and "How Soon Is Now?" is a decent smiths track, i like it.

Vegan graffiti losers can kiss my ass.

The gambling ads scare me.

The worst is the dude with the obvious lazy eye.

Morrissey: "He hurt me with that remark....did I mention that I cried?"

TV's Frank: "Well, come on Morrissey - I mean, we're basically evil, but a lot of what we say around here is good-natured ribbing."

Morrissey: "He hurt me. Did I mention that I cried? Is it wrong not to always be glad?"

Ugh, the 80s - don't bring it back with graffiti!
