A pulitzer for oregonian staff on breaking news category? What is this world coming to? Egads.
I thought we were talking about The Road? I usually don't give a rat’s ass about the Pulitzer committee’s choices, but I can't agree more with their selection of The Road for best fiction. This book is harrowing, stark, beautiful, soul draining and somehow hopeful. Loved every page. Thanks Chas for recommending it in the Mercury last year. After reading your review I picked it up, thank you.

Hi Chas,
I saw that you write about books and writers and readings, so I wanted to send you the following. Couldn't find an email address for you on this site, so hopefully you will see this comment.
I am the assistant to the writer, Eileen Myles. I know it is short notice, but I just wanted to let you know that Eileen will be doing a reading of poems from her latest book, SORRY, TREE the week after next in your town. She had a scheduling conflict and couldn't appear with Sister Spit when they performed/read in Portland recently and wanted to come to Portland regardless. Here is the info. Please let me know if you would like any additional information, press materials/photos, etc.
Thank you!
Cathy

Title of Event: Sorry, Tree: A Reading by Eileen Myles
Currently joining SISTER SPIT: THE NEXT GENERATION on some of their national tour dates, poet Eileen Myles comes to IN OTHER WORDS to read from her latest book of poetry, SORRY, TREE released this April on Wave Books.
Myles' trademark punk-lesbian sensibility and intimate knowledge of poetic tradition are at work in this eighth collection, where every love poem is political, and every political poem is, ultimately, about love.
Eileen Myles has published over a dozen books of poetry, prose, and plays. Formerly the director of the St. Mark's Poetry Project, as well as a write-in candidate for president in 1992, she now teaches at the University of California, San Diego.
Her books include Skies, on my way, Cool for You (a novel), School of Fish, Maxfield Parrish, Not Me, and Chelsea Girls (stories).
BUST magazine calls Myles "the rock star of modern poetry" and The New York Times says she's "a cult figure to a generation of post-punk females forming their own literary avant garde."
