Via Loaded Orygun and Daily Kos:
Oregon State Rep. Dennis Richardson sent out a newsletter to constituents last Friday, lamenting the Virginia Tech Massacre, and “the passage of Domestic Benefits for same-sex couples (HB 2007) and Civil Rights based on sexual orientation.” Combined, the events made for “A Tragic Week in Review.”
He elaborates:
I believe there will be societial anomalies to deal with as well as the legal ones. In the years ahead, I believe SB 2 will result in a small minority of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT) activists imposing their lifestyles and views of behavior on an unwilling majority in Oregon’s schools, work places, and eventually in all aspects of our society. When it comes to political strategy and maneuvering, the GLBT activists have certainly been successful in moving forward their political agenda.
Gag. Check out part of Loaded Orygun’s Torrid Joe after the jump, in a kick ass response.
I see. So when we talk about grave tragedies, the opportunity for persons of the same sex to bond to each other in love is an unspeakable horror to Richardson, on roughly the same scale as the brutal murder of 33 people....I could come up with any number of adjectives to describe this noxious juxtaposition--such as ignorant, hateful, paranoid, misinformed, calculating, neanderthal or just plain stupid--but let's just stick with "pathetic" and the more relevant "unworthy of an Oregon legislator." Do we really need to stand by and let him call out his colleague's partnership with another woman a tragedy? I say no. Even if you're not an Oregonian--but especially if you are--it's worth taking a moment and dialing up Rep. Richardson's office and telling him what you think of his vomitous characterization:
Session Address:
900 Court St. NE, H-392
Salem, OR 97301
Session Phone:
503-986-1404I'm frankly not sure who this insults more--the victims at Tech or our newly empowered GLBT friends. But it's fucking insulting all right, and I think he needs to answer for it publicly.
More here.
let's look at this story for what it really is:
he's just mad because he submitted that photo to gay.com and the only people who responded to him were closeted tobacco company employees with marlboro man fetishes.
Living in Portland, I always forget that a large portion of our great state contains ignorant assholes who would actually vote for an ignorant asshole like Richardson.

As we pointed out in 2005, Richardson's website used to link to a document called "Guide to Family Issues," that said things like "homosexuals engage in behaviors that are destructive to them and society" and "prevention, early intervention, and treatment for homosexual behavior, while not always 100 percent effective, does work." It also equated homosexuality with pedophilia and sexual abuse.
