Goddamn, how many of us does it take to link to KGW?

TEAM COVERAGE!!!

Exactly.

"well...see...I wanted to chime in on this issue back in May, but I had a city government to take ov..er..reform!
The timing just isn't right."

Convene a committee!

Ha ha. Ok. And now back to you, Matt, for our link to KATU!

Ah, fuck it. I'm going to bed.

OK...so I take some of my 'diplomacy' back!
I had voiced that it was just as bad for pretentious a*holes to tape ('tapers"), as it was bad to be a 'follower of the Kool thing' to pull up tape. Even though most of those would have never protested, unless there was a group to FOLLOW and look KOOL and Meaningful.
OK...
I was wrong! (on some part)
The "tapers" in general, I thought were older than me, and just too timid/lazy to get up in the a.m. to fight for a spot for a parade that I won't watch.
I say "I was wrong!"
There are little wolverines out there, fighting for comfortable areas on Portland's sidewalks, as if they were fighting for food commodities in a starving society!
The nerve, the attitudes!
I hope someone I know sees my entry...It is not often that I say I am wrong.
Although, KGW's portrayal of parade site defenders was every bit compliant with the depiction of who the "tapers" were against. They showed an example of stero-types: Sub-burb/Gresham-like character representation with real life people.
I still believe that many were "followers" and would have never done anything against "tapers" unless they had a crowd to follow, and they could blend in. I wouldn't...I have laundry to do.

I agree that many of the people pulling up tape do not or would not watch the parade, but ask yourself why. The Parade SUCKS and in the past it's been overrun with annoying poeple taping off the damn sidewalk like they are buying tickets to an exclusive event. Just think if we took The Rose Parade back! What if we had a Parade that belonged to Portland and not a bunch of suburbanites. Think Alberta St.'s Last Thursday, Hawthorne St Fair. If Potter had any balls at all he would let Portland run this Parade, not Gresham and it's minions. I have an even better idea, put the Mercury in charge of the Rose Festival, now that would be a Parade I would actually watch.

You mean we're not already?!

Just think if we took The Rose Parade back! What if we had a Parade that belonged to Portland and not a bunch of suburbanites.

(1) You're not going to take it "back" just be changing the sidewalk issue.

(2) The point of events like this is that they AREN'T just for Portland, but are MEANT to bring people in from elsewhere.

Transpose your means to the issue of the public airwaves which the local TV uses . . . FOR PRIVATE PROFIT.

Rather than hamming it up you might instead be smashing the evil greedy capitalist TV stations.

There must surely be some boring economic efficiency argument to be made that while taping off an area is not enforceable it nevertheless enables folks to plan to distribute themselves along the route rather than to bunch up like a mob (or drive in circles or walk forever and ever) at the last minute to get to some preferred spot.

I might go for some rotation scheme as to the public airwaves. They can be "boorish."

Something tells me the timing could not have been better...

Someone check the todayinpdx@ address.

KGW has the worst site of all local news. I have to load up IE instead of firefox to just view that video. every other site I'm fine with...
