News Gays Off The Bus: Sinister Comments

Last week we reported on Trimet’s placing a driver on administrative leave after he allegedly called two teenage lesbians “disgusting sickos” before kicking them off the bus. Trimet will consider next steps in its disciplinary process this week.

In the comments to our story, disturbingly, someone claiming inside knowledge at Trimet says drivers are now circulating the girls’ pictures with a view to denying them service on the buses in future, if the driver gets fired. Says “beenzy,” in a comment posted yesterday:

These two ‘girls’are not children and knew what they were doing. To insinuate that they are helpless children is an insult to every tax paying citizen in this city. if these two ‘children’ succeed in getting that trimet bus driver fired there is a move afoot to make sure neither of them ever get picked up again by a trimet bus. they’re pictures are being circulated right now between trimet bus drivers. DROP IT NOW, THEY WERE NOT HURT, ACT LIKE ADULTS AND BE TREATED REPECTFULLY!

Later, he adds:

You gays think that the whole world needs to bow before you, but let me tell you, IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN!

You might succeed in getting this driver fired but let me tell you there will be repercussions!

WE’VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!

And any action taken by the drivers as a group IS NOT CONDONED BY THE COMPANY!

One of the girl’s mothers, Ronnda Zezula, is tussling with “beenzy” in the comments, but tells Blogtown she’s “concerned.” Trimet spokeswoman Mary Fetsch tells us she has heard nothing of people circulating any photographs, and was shocked to hear about what’s going on here. Let’s hope “beenzy” is just some nut-case and not affiliated with the company.

if this is true, and some faction of tri-met drivers actually as a group bands together to deny these girls rides, they can a) say goodbye to their jobs, and b) say hello to a very legitimate civil rights lawsuit.

City employees saying "You gays" is sad, hilarious, and so 1950s. I can't believe there isn't at least a few LBGT people who work at TriMet. I wonder what they're saying.

Just to clarify, "beenzy" is claiming some affiliation with Trimet, which may or may not be the case. We'd like to think it's not the case, and Trimet says it's not heard of anything like the photos being passed around. It was shocked to hear about "beenzy"'s comments, too.

Let me know when we have pictures of "beenzy" so we can circulate them to bars, restaurants, cafes, bookstores, record stores (etc etc) to make sure he or she gets denied service.

What would circulating his photo do other then drop the community down to the level of the hate-mongers. Lets focus on the fact that he broke policies. They are minors, whether they know better or not. The fact they were HEADED to a safe haven (Sexual Youth Recreation Center) shows that they had their own safety in mind, and were not hanging downtown on the corner. They were put in possible danger by being forced off the bus at a non bus stop. As a leader of a gay activist group in the country i even question the Kiss-in by the gay community in PDX. Why do we have to continue to focus on issues that will continue to put the focus on separation of communities, lets focus on the fact that he, even in his homophobic and hate-mongering actions, put two minors in danger, THAT should be what everyone is focusing on!
