Are you in the market for a robot to replace either a Mercury employee or an autistic child? Well, the Japanese have done it again! Check out this completely HORRIFYING video of CB2 (full name: “Child-robot with Biomimetic Body”). It’s in Japanese, but here’s basically what they’re saying, from a report in the Daily Mail…
Covered in a grey putty-like silicone skin the baby bot can roll around and ‘speak’. It can even take a few steps if encouraged enough.Built by Japanese scientists Minoru Asada and Hiroshi Ishiguro (who famously created an android twins of himself), the robot called CB2 weighs 33kg and stands 130cm tall.
It has 197 tactile sensors embedded in its outer layer and 51 compressed air-powered actuators, which allow it to react to touch.
When CB2’s shoulders are tapped, it blinks as if surprised, stops moving, and turns its gaze toward the person who touched it. It will also try and grab a toy dangled in front of it.
It will also wait until you fall asleep, sneak into your room, and anally rape you. OH MY FUCKING GOD, THIS IS SO SCARY!!
Wait, aren't robots supposed to be able to move without the puppetmaster?
I love the "uncanny valley" hypothesis! Best hypothesis EVER! (Good band name, too!)
I didn't understand a word in that report but don't the Japanese understand they are tempting the wrath of Godzilla by creating lazy giant robot babies?
CB2? Does this mean Chas Bowie has already been replaced?
Wm. Steven Humphrey, you sir are a racist. Not one year ago today, I offered you what I believe was a very lucrative deal on fully articulated Mexican robots for which to replace your oft inebriated and always incompetent staff. Now you're buying near-immobile Japanese baby-droids? For shame.
now they just need to develop a robot that isn't autistic..
