News Who’s Suing Who?

Posted by Matt Davis on Tue, Jun 5 at 11:35 AM

My weekly trip to the federal courthouse this morning turned up two interesting suits:

1. A man is suing the US Government for $105,000 in damages after an FBI agent allegedly crashed a plane into his 1985 Lamborghini. 5000qvred.jpg
FBI Special Agent Robert Brockmeyer, who was piloting a Cessna 206 H aircraft “while in the course and scope of his duties for the United States,” according to the suit, collided with Marlowe Treit’s Lamborghini while taxiing on the runway at Aurora Airport in May 2006. Allegedly. I wonder what the story is there.

2. A widow of a former Fred Meyer pharmacist is suing the grocery store, and its owners, Kroger, for $150,000. bldg-fredmeyer.gif
The widow alleges that her husband was fired after being diagnosed with terminal cancer—with the grocery store claiming this was in his best interest, so that he could obtain insurance to pay for medical bills, but that the grocery store did not tell the pharmacist that his termination would end his right to life insurance benefits. The widow is suing for the insurance she alleges she would have received had these still been in place. Sad.

$150,000?? I bet the judge will award her $500,000 just for asking so little.

If he rules in favor. It's all alleged at the moment.

It's "who's suing whom?"

Not if you, like I, subscribe to the Meredith Brooks school of grammar:

Who's Fooling Who Lyrics
Artist(Band):Meredith Brooks

You're so bad
You look so good
Charisma of a playboy
Who made it big in Hollywood
The money so fine
You're livin' high
The women, wine
Fly to the parties
But you won't be caught
Unless you bring a crowd
All the friends you bought
Cuz you wanna be sure
Your smile is seen
And your lookins good

[Chorus:]
I know I have become much stronger now these days
I don't need that kind of love
I'm on my way
Who-who's fooling who
No matter what you think or do
Oh, I can see right through
So who's fooling who

You don't even listen to me
When I SHOUT
Being at the top
Is all that you're concerned about
But someday baby
You're gonna be meeting me again
Got two faces for every move
You've done it for so long
They all look good on you
But it's too late baby
You looked in the mirror too long again

[Repeat chorus]

Ah, yes, the esteemed Meredith Brooks School of Grammar for Kids Who Can't Read Good...

I'll side with Meredith in any grammar debate, any time.

...and of course Aretha! Who's Zoomin' Who?

Totally:

You walked in on the sly
Scopin' for love
In the crowd, I caught your eye
You can't hide your stuff

You came to catch
You thought I'd be naive and tame
You met your match
I beat you at your own game

(chorus)
Who's zoomin' who, take another look, tell me baby
Who's zoomin who...oh
Who's zoomin' who, now the fish jumped off the hook
Didn't I baby...Who's zoomin' who (repeat)

Guess you believed the world
Played by your rules
Here stands an experienced girl
Nobody's fool...

Don't speculate
you thought you had me covered, but
I've got your bait
You're bound to be my lover...oh
(chorus)

You think you're smooth
That you can pickand choose
When the time is right...
But, just look behind, you'll be surprised to find
I'm gonna make you mine tonight...oh
(chorus)

So - was it Jeremy Clarkson in the Lambo?

Which is a sideabout way of asking for an explanation of Top Gear.

WTF is the FBI doing in Aurora anyway? Hotbed for terrorism or a huge drug trade? Hah!
