Music Bat for Lashes

Tomorrow marks the release of Bat for LashesFur And Gold, one of the most ambitious and gorgeous records of 2007. For the sake of concise, ramble-free, blogging, the album reminds me of the first time I listened to Bjork’s Debut, on my old brother’s “borrowed” headphones. Before hearing that record, I never knew music could sound so rich and detailed, yet still so exciting at the same time.

Also, Fur And Gold features a very rare appearance by Josh T. Pearson (pictured above with Bat for Lashes’ Natasha Khan, he’s the one with Billy Gibbons’ beard), the onetime frontman of Lift to Experience. The mysterious band from Denton, Texas, was an explosive gathering of God, guns, sin and shoegazing. For a brief period of time, before the trio quickly disappeared into the badlands of Texas, there might not have been a better band on the planet.

not to be all "uh, you do know the internet exists, yes?", but: in the minds of most of the people that are going to care about this [admittedly quite good] album, this record came out nearly a year ago. getting your hands on mysterious "imports" isn't such a chore any more, so there's really no reason for a journalist to wait several months to let regional record releases catch up with the real world...

Hey Adam
Thanks for the comment. To be honest, my goal in this posting was to tell people about a record that is, for the most part, unknown. While I am aware that the record is indeed "available" online, my goal with this post was just to share some music, which just so happened to coincide with the record's release. That's it.

There was no "waiting several months," or anything like that, it was just a blog post about an excellent record. The end.

Nice call. I forgot how much I liked Lift to Experience.
