As I understand it, Portland is a hotbed of Joss Whedon fanaticism. You could probably belt out a couple lines from the Buffy episode “Once More, With Feeling” and find three others willing to join in.
So, I figure Whedon fans might be happy to know that Angel, like Buffy, will find new life… err… unlife… in comic form thanks to IDW.

More on this news, which was announced at San Diego’s Comicon, can be found here.
They’ve also announced who will follow Whedon on Astonishing X-Men and Runaways, but I doubt any of you Whedon fans care. (It’s Warren Ellis/Simone Bianchi and Terry Moore/Huberto Ramos respectively.)
CORRECTION: I should clarify that this is an official announcement of the name and creative team for what will be Angel’s “Season 6.”
Well, we've known that he was working a Season 6 miniseries for months, so maybe I should clarify that now we have an official announcement and title.
I suppose the way it is now implies that IDW is realizing new Angel comics... despite the fact they've been doing that for a while.
Actually, we've known the writer and the "After the Fall" name for quite some time. The artist announcement might have been new, I don't remember.
They also aren't technically referring to it was "season 6", although given that it's a canon follow-up that seems rather silly to me.
(And somewhere in the moderation queue is comment from me linking to two solid sources of all of the new news which came out of that session.)
Alright, fair enough.
Alright, fair enough.

Actually, the Angel comic news was not new. It's been known for months.
New news was:
* Plans for a "Ripper" TV movie on the BBC.
* More rewrites for "Goners".
* A short film ballet for Summer Glau.
* Sugarshock, although that actually went live sometime on Thursday or Friday.
* Buffy Season 9 comics to follow Season 8 (although some PDX Browncoats knew that since June).
