I ran across a link to the Christian Domestic Discipline homepage over at Salon’s Broadsheet—the site is a reference for those who practice “Loving Wife Spanking in a Christian Marriage.”
A domestic discipline marriage is one in which one partner in the marriage is given authority over the other and has the means to back the authority, usually by spanking.A Christian Domestic Discipline marriage is one that is set up according to Biblical standards; that is, the husband is the authority in the household. The wife is submissive to her husband as is fit in the Lord and her husband loves her as himself. He has the ultimate authority in his household, but it is tempered with the knowledge that he must answer to God for his actions and decisions. He has the authority to spank his wife for punishment, but in real CDD marriages this is taken very seriously and usually happens only rarely. CDD is so much more than just spanking. It is the husband loving the wife enough to guide and teach her, and the wife loving the husband enough to follow his leadership. A Christian marriage embodies true romance and a Christian man a true hero.
This shit is fascinating—borderline S&M couched in really patriarchal, repressive terms. I particularly recommend the blogs.
I never visited that site and thanks to you I never will...Completely inaccurate! Spanking the wife? Seriously, if a man even harms a woman he should be locked up 5 to 10 in the pen. There is no "Loving Wife Marriage Spanking." And taking the Bible out of context to add that into a relationship is completely wrong. I recommend opening up the Book before before taking the word of someone else. BibleGateWay.com is a good place to search. How many results do you get when searching for "Spanking"?
I am a devoted Christian and let me help you out and shed some light on how a Christian Man is suppose to treat his wife.
It's important to note the responsibilities of a husband as well for a man to have such a wife that devotes herself to God is truly a blessing from God. 1 Peter 3:7 "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers." If a husband and wife really become one as the Bible teaches them to do, there marriage will become sweeter and more fulfilling each year. "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it [her]" (Eph. 5:25). The key to being a Christian husband and loving your wife is loving her as Christ loved the church. Jesus loved the church with a self-forgetting and self-sacrificing love, even unto death. This is the way Christian men should love their wives.
Ephesians 5:21 shows that we are all to be "Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God."
In other words, for a man to have such a loving wife is a true blessing from God and that a man will not only love his wife all of his life but give his life for his wife and protect her always. To harm his wife would be a sin and a disgrace... A man that hits a woman is undeserving.
I was thinking it was some sort of droll joke–i was sure I would find the giveaway somewhere.
It may still be a joke, of course.
Aside from consensual kink, anyone who actually thinks that spanking a grown woman is anything other than brutal behavior needs to be returned for regrooving. And i can't even think about how messed up a woman would be to think that sort of thing is normal.
"Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers."
the bible is hilarious! fucking hilarious!
the bible would have my husband treat me with respect, because i am the weaker partner?
that's not respect. that's pity.
Well, God IS a sadist. That is quite evident.
"...respect as the weaker partner"
To protect her and ensure no harm comes to her and to not harm her in any way.
"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it [her]" (Eph. 5:25).
Cherish her and give your life for her.
If you prefer your husband to treat you differently, that's your choice. But I just explained that verse, if you choose to take it out of context and see it as pity, so be it. It's not trivial, but I guess some have a hard time reading and understanding.
I saw nothing funny, but anti-Christians would... I see many in society, wife beaters, those in the paper and news for murder of their spouse, sodomy, etc... It's ironic you find what I explained funny and condemn it but you say nothing of those who do actual harm...
I mention cherish and self sacrificing love and you condemn that, so that leaves the opposite that you prefer? Or is it that you can't comprehend how a Christian man, just as I explained, treats his wife? It's not pity...
