Food Falafel.

I want some falafel from La Villa.

But they’re closed forever now, and I will try not to begrudge the Morrison Hotel (719 SE Morrison) the location, because they do have an excellent bottled beer selection and are a good place to play Scrabble and particuarly because they are now serving lunch (Tues-Fri, from 11 am) in an area that could use a few more good lunch options, and speaking of lunch has anyone been to Nu Cafe (621 SE Morrison), just down the street, which serves nothing but from 11 am-4 pm Mon-Fri?

But back to falafel. I hear Fat Kitty, a cart on 21st and Division, has the goods (I read it actually, here, where a very excited blogger by the name of bb breathlessly describes it as “the greatest falafel in this city….maybe in any city!!!” That makes me want to eat it.) Any other East side recs?

The dude @ Fat Kitty has the GREATEST VOICE EVER. If you're into voiceboxes, that is. But word on the street is that holmes' falafels are indeed badass.

Another one bites the dust. Like the Hungry Tiger and many others have tried, you can't recreate that magic. You can only relocate and charge more money for food.

Ahh horseshoes. Wrong post.

Fat Kitty beats the absolute shit out of the bland, chewy falafel sandwich I paid $7+ for at Arabian Breeze the other day. And that dude is pretty funny.

i had a fat kitty/La Villa weekend not long ago.

Fat Kitty isn't on division every day. i'm not sure how he moves around but i've seen him at Renn Fayre, Last Thursdays and nearly every street fair recently. that's kind of awesome, but it makes him a lil unreliable for your fix. Cafe Pallino on 29th(?) and division is a nice little spot: it reminds me of the cafes in european musemus, but in a good way: all the sandwiches are on display, gelato, aranciata and all that noise. there's always pok2, and you can't go wrong with No Fish Go Fish's lunch special. J&M has a respectable lunch, and a cool bar to sit at (even though their anti-service mentality is more pointed when you sit there). Biwa stopped serving lunch, unfortunately....

none of these are that new, either.

Fatty Kitty is pretty decent, but get across the bridge and go to Karam for the best.
