My Xbox 360 finally died last week, which means that, sans 360, I’ve been stuck with my DS, zooming around on MarioKart and moving little things around in Puzzle Quest and etc. Which is fine and all, but goddamn, I thought to myself last night as I paused Puzzle Quest to get another beer, why isn’t there a videogame that encourages me to drink alcohol while playing it?
Enter Bartender DS, which, Kotaku tells us, teaches you how to make “850 drinks” (!) and also features “interviews with bartenders who recount tales of their daring exploits and chat about their favourite drinks.” (For you classy alcoholics, there’s also Sommelier DS.) Okay, so I don’t give a fuck about bartenders’ “daring exploits,” but learning how to make drinks while playing videogames? Sounds pretty ideal to me. Plus, not only will I be able to drink while I play—in fact, I bet such a thing is encouraged!—but it’s self-improvement or something. I mean, I’d be learning a new skill, right? Right.
In brief:
Your 8-bit Nintendo has fewer moving parts than the new machines. The general rule of thumb in engineering is that with more moving parts comes more chances to break.
What an awesome concept! Although, why not just get a job in a bar and get paid to learn?

How is it that I am still playing my 8 bit Nintendo from 4th grade but 360's and ps3's have a one to two year lifespan?
I used to find myself quite drunk after an evening of gambling on the old N64 casino game. Maybe?
