Did you have a great weekend? Good!
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney didn’t have such a great weekend, when his views on abortion came under attack at a debate in Des Moines (he used to support abortion rights): “I get tired of people that are holier-than-thou because they’ve been prolife longer than I have,” Romney whined.
Families of those still missing in Minneapolis following the bridge collapse had an awful weekend, too—recovery crews still haven’t been able to get to many of the cars stuck beneath the bridge. But they’re bringing in cranes today, to begin the “very slow, tedious process” of removing the debris.
Three college friends were “lined up against a schoolyard wall” in Newark on Saturday, and shot execution-style. A fourth was also shot, but survived.
The Bourne Ultimatum had a great weekend, pulling in $70.2 million—”a record for a movie launched in August.”
French President Nicolas Sarkozy takes a page from Britney Spears’ “smack down the paparazzi” handbook: “Sarkozy lost his temper with two American news photographers covering his vacation Sunday, jumping onto their boat and scolding them loudly in French.” Good thing he didn’t have an umbrella!
