Jesus Christ. The always completely accurate blog, What Would Tyler Durden Do? is reporting that the two adopted kids of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman have been spending their summer at a camp here in Portland [UPDATE: Scott Moore points out that the camp is, in fact, NEAR Portland, but not IN it. Just so that’s clear. I’d hate for you to get over-excited, and it is Scott’s job, he says, to “rain on everyone’s parade,” after all.], designed to indoctrinate the kids into Scientology. From Star Magazine:
So where have the Cruise kids been all summer? Star has learned that the youngsters are in Oregon, at a camp 60 miles south of Portland run by the Church of Scientology! The summer camp is part of the Scientologys get them while theyre young campaign, a source who attended the camp tells Star. While they will be enjoying horseback riding, swimming and all kinds of fun activities, some of their day is devoted to Scientology coursework. So: Where is this camp? Why didn’t we bloody know about it already? Let’s kidnap the Cruisettes! Etcetera.
WTF is it with religiofreaks and camps in Oregon? If it isn't White Power trash it's Rajneeshes; if it isn't them it's some creep who wants to train terrorists near Bly.
It's got to be the fact we can't pump our own gas. Yeah...that's it.
So nobody wants to kidnap Tom Cruise's kids, then.
That's the Delphian School in Sheridan. There's a whole website for their summer program.
I'm telling you, beg, borrow or steal a copy of "L. Ron Hubbard: Messiah or Madman ?" It was written in part by his estranged son, and has more bizarre, insane tidbits about what really went on in the Church of Scientology than you could even imagine. The cult has been attempting to have that book suppressed ever since it came out.
My favorite part is when they get to describing the ship that served as their mobile headquarters. LRon had these women in skimpy '60s go-go Naval uniforms, who were trained to light his beloved Kools and relay his commands in his exact tone of voice !

So which merc staff wants to send their kid to one of these to get the dirt? All in the interest of journalism, of course. I wonder how much of it is real education and how much is...... the mighty Xenu?
Call me a prude, but I find your blog post to be in extremely bad taste. As messed up as I might find Scientology, I don't find the humor in publishing the location of someone's kids with a joke about kidnapping them.
We drove past that today! It's on a hill just outside of Sheridan. You can see it from Highway 18. I wondered aloud if Cruise would be sending the little one there eventually...
Cool! (Adding this to the list of summer camp options for my daughter next year...)
Hishamiyou're a prude. Tom Cruise's kids are fair game.
Seriously...at this point, he's had his grip on them so long I'm not even sure they can be considered "kids" (or human) anymore
I'm telling you, beg, borrow or steal a copy of "L. Ron Hubbard: Messiah or Madman ?" It was written in part by his estranged son...I own that book. I also own Bare-Faced Messiah, and a couple of mass-market critquesScientology, The Now Religion and even Paulette Cooper's book The Scandal of Scientology...that book is vanishingly rare now.
While Messiah or Madman is alright, I'd rate Bare-Faced Messiah as a better job and more well-written. But that's just my view.
I even have a few public-market Scientology bookslike What Is Scientologybecause there is just something about them that is morbidly fascinating.
Oh, I'd never join Scientology, oh no. As a matter of fact, I'm a sort of refugee from all religion for now.
