Lookie lookie! A brand new track from Graduation (due out September 11th), the brand new album from music’s most famous college dropout, Kanye West.
MP3: Kanye West - Homecoming
Here West teams up with Coldplay’s Chris Martin (Huh? Was the dude from Keane busy?) and the result is…um…kind of crappy. At least that is the opinion around these parts. What do you think?
I second that.
This is my favorite part of the kanye west site:
Kanye gets Murakami to do his album cover, secures Will Oldham to star in his video, and jacks a great Daft Punk song for his first single, and yet he's still only a slightly better than average emcee. Just given the recipe above, you'd think he was the greatest artist of the 21st century, but if you look at his actual work, it just doesn't hold up to the hype. The Chris Martin song sucks; he should have learned that would happen from Kingdom Come. "Faster Stronger" or whatever it's called would suck if it weren't for the Daft Punk sample. I was really hoping that this new album would restore my faith in Kanye, but instead the opposite is happening. Pretend you never heard of Kanye West, and imagine you heard this new track on the radio. Laaaame.
Kanye may be "only a slightly better than average emcee", but at least he's not Common.
oh man, common being the hip hop john mayer is so god damn perfect it hurts.
i loved like water for chocolate though.
Hah, Common comments are funny. He used to be ok, never exceptional. I thought One Day it'll all Make Sense was ok. Shit, that was 10 years ago now. I'm getting old.

Well, at least it's better than that track on Late Registration where he teamed up with Adam Levine.
Other than that... ah, yeah.
