Rumors of a vegan restaurant from the forces behind ten:01 and Tabla have been bouncing around the internets for some time now. Well, the moment has arrived: Nutshell opened today on N. Williams, and according to some folks from the office who went for lunch, it’s very, very good. Just reading the menu makes me hungry. I’m no fan of faux meat/dairy, and there’s none of that to be found on Nutshell’s menu, only (in the words of my co-worker), “creative, internationally derived, seasonal dishes that focus on nutrition and flavor.” Nutshell also offers a wide salt selection (super fun to experiment with in different combinations), intriguing desserts, and reasonably priced beer and wine.
Menu after the jump!
Nutshell, 3808 N Williams, Ste. C, 292-2627
Sorry it's sideways-y. Print it out!

I printed out and still can't read it. Email me a better image and I'll type it up.
I see that enough in real life, yo.
Gladly, msg, but the mail form on your site won't let me include an attachment... what's the address? (or just e-mail me- ahallett@portlandmercury.com, and i'll respond)
Nutshell is a great restaurant to add to Portland's ever growing vegan community. Try the porter cake and cousous.
this place rocks. really great and interesting food. good add to the hood.
I've eaten there twice for a VERY affordable gourmet lunch and I have to reccommend the shot of chilled herbal soup. It's probably the best thing I've ever tasted. The Israeli cous cous and strawberry avacado smoothie also warrant mention.
Plus you gotta love the 4 identical giant stylized sasquatches on the wall.
