Three local food co-ops, Alberta, Food Front, and People’s are holding a “Cooperate for Community” essay contest. The topic: a local sustainable food hero, which can be either an individual or a group. Your 500-word essay, if it scores first prize, will get you a $200 food co-op GC for your favorite non-profit (not you). And, you will automatically be entered into the greater national contest being held by the National Cooperative Grocers Association (NCGA). The top prize in the national contest is $2,500 for your fave non-profit. Deadline is September 14. Pick up an entry form at any of the three local co-ops, or download one here . When you’re done, return ‘em, again, to either the Alberta, Food Front, or People’s locations.
