The Albina Press is scheduled to open a new location on “upper Hawthorne” this October (anybody know where abouts exactly? I’m SO not calling a coffee shop at 9 am to ask for details). Here’s the floor plan:

hot damn! I love common grounds on 44th so this isn't a huge upgrade to the 'hood. stoked to see another nice business going in though. could be in one of the retail spaces in the new multiuse buildings going in on 43rd? or is that 45th? nifty building. although not the color of curry, it does sport some of matt's fav 'wood' panels.
From reading the thread, it looks like they're converting two old spaces (including one with the vintage-style bumped in entry) into one big space. So I don't think it's in new construction... Is there a set of two empty storefronts somewhere along Hawthorne?
Next to Sapphire it is then? Two empty storefronts. Did they mention a garage door face/exit on one? I likey.
Pretty sure it's next to the Sapphire. This will cut my commute to the Press from a 45 minute bike ride to a 2 minute walk. I'll get to roll in there in pj's. This will change my life.
Near the Sapphire sounds right to me. I heard it was "close to Mt. Tabor, above 50th," and there's a pretty short list of places that could fit that description.
hey alison, i didn't know you regularly trolled the coffeed.com site looking for tidbits of coffeeshop info to pass along to blogtown readers. how thorough of you.
Yes, it's the unit north of the Sapphire so 50th and Hawthorne. I live riht above the Sapphire. Should be cool, my landlord who owns that whole bulding says Albina is a sweet place.
will it be called hawthorne press?
No hat tip to you Sonia, you get it taken away for being mean to Alison.
Really, who ASKS for a hat tip these days? How gauche.
it's come to my attention that my initial comment was...."rude"...
that wasn't my intention, alison, i think you're keen. sorry to have "yelled" at you. i meant it to be funny.
hee hee?
(p.s. amy wanted me to tell you that she did not force me to apologize....oh, wait...)

Will this be located in one of the new condo joints? Or are they all residential?
Another option is next to the Sapphire--that's been mysteriously vacant/renovated for a while now.
