Music Built to Spill - Tonight (and Tomorrow)!

The last time I saw Built to Spill I fell into a deep coma induced by Doug Martsch’s wanky solos and out of control guitarsturbation.

Personally, I miss the old quirky BTS (pre-Warner Bros), where the songs were shorter and less involved, but judging by the band’s large fanbase, I might be in the minority here. Anyone else feel the same way?

The best mixtape jam of 1998? Oh, that’s easy:
Built to Spill - Car

Built to Spill perform tonight, and tomorrow night, at the Crystal Ballroom, so no need to take those Ambien you got from the “Canadian Pharmacy.”

not alone, but judging by the comments, still mostly alone. all but about three songs by bts bore me, too. and yet, every time they come to town, someone i know wants to see them. ahh, the joys of being old.

I don't know if the songs actually were shorter - but the whole approach of course was fresher a decade ago, and before Modest Mouse took that template approach and made their first two albums with it, which are both among the very best of the decade.

Make sure to go early and catch Camper Van Beethoven. They are fucking genius, and not sleepy or wanky in the least.

if I put my 'there's nothing wrong with love' record on while hosting a party generally: A> everyone loves it and B> nobody knows who it is. it is definately one of the finest indie rock albums ever. no comment on the newer stuff...

So, Camper is opening for BTS and not the other way around?

last time i saw them i passed out in the bushes and for an encore I puked all over the sidewalk.

Right on Whitey - Camper van Beethoven is the real star of this bill - too bad the place is going to full of people there to see Built to Spill..yawn.....

'there's nothing wrong with love' - easily one of my favorite albums from the old college days.

While I definitely see your point about the "out of control guitarsturbation" , as well as the pre-Warner Bros distinction, I have to admit that I loved the latest album. In fact, the only album I don't like that much is 'ancient melodies of the future'
