Music Dinosaur Jr. - Tonight!

Tonight’s Dinosaur Jr. show is part of some sponsorship deal with Camel, where it’s free to attend if you get your hands on one of the bazillions of free passes going around town. Between the lung cancer and the tinnitus, this show is an excellent opportunity for you to damage your body in all sorts of ways.

Dinosaur Jr. - Start Choppin’

When Where You Been came out in 1993, I walked straight from my last class at junior high to the local record store (um, Wherehouse Music), where I bought the cassette the day it came out. I then walked home blasting it on my sweet yellow Sony Cassette Walkman. Yup, the ladies loved me.

Dinosaur Jr. is performing at the Crystal Ballroom tonight (Band of Horses, too!)

anyone wanna clue me in as to where to get one of these marvelous free tickets?

"If I have to tell ya big man, you can't afford it... "

Arggh. What sounded so revolutionary last time I saw them (My Bloody Valentine was the opener gives you some idea how far back this was) tonight was just more of the air we breathe, delivered stolidly and lacking the eye candy of young punks being tossed around in the noise. Or breathe usually rather, as breathing in the Camel-sponsored event was kind of tough going. The Camel folks handing out free smokes - and tickets, it looked like almost everyone got in free - had a big screen up you could text messages onto, although when I texted, "RIP Guy Cogswell 2 packs a day died at 52 $100,000 medical bill two years chemo drowned in his own blood" they said if I sent anymore "offensive messages" I'd be bumped off their system. I won't say what I texted back because children might be reading this. It was truly offensive, though, and they duly bumped me off.

Drop 'em a line: 646 961 7813.

I actually purchased tickets for this event completely unaware it was sponsored by Camel. It was just one big tobacco play ground. We were completely turned off and disgusted by the advertising, cigarette smoke, Spin Art booth, crazy alien dress up photo booth, free packages of cigarettes and lack of rock and roll. It was hands down the worst show we have every attended. This was a Camel event who just hired Dinosaur JR to play at. Too bad it was not advertised that way.
