Misc The Parrot World Loses Its Hero

Posted by Scott Moore on Wed, Sep 12 at 2:52 PM

Alex the Parrot, who, let’s face it, is smarter than 80 percent of the U.S. population, died last week at the age of 31.

Alex “had the communicative abilities of a young child” and was able to comprehend and express concepts, needs, and emotions.

Oh, and he could tolerate Alan Alda without pecking out his eyes. See for yourself here.

His last words: “You be good, see you tomorrow. I love you.”

This is why I don’t eat animals.

I have a Yellow Nape Parrot named Ziggy...

When you leave... he tells you "Bye Bye!" (EVERY TIME. And it's LOUD. You can hear it until you close your car door), when you feed him he says "Chow Time!", and when you give him water, he says "Miller Time"... Ziggy is about 20 years old, and he's fuckin AWESOME.

Birds are cool.

That parrot is cooler than most of my friends.
