News Police Public Information Officer

Posted by Matt Davis on Fri, Oct 19 at 3:44 PM

Sergeant Brian Schmautz is funny occasionally. I just emailed asking for some information and got this response:

“Requests made to my office should be in the form of song lyrics or a poem. All requests not made in that form will not receive a response.”
We duly complied.

How do you know what you can be
If you cant see where you are going
What breaks the silence misery
Can make you see where you belong
Its a dangerous stage but the show must go on

Why do you lie
Why do you lie
Would you betray your soul
Why do you lie
Why do you lie
Dont let your weakness show
You just might be the last to know

Freedom is such a loaded word
So full of hurt and such a plomb
Loneliness saunters in its breeze
Like a disease it drags along
The time of your life cant be had for a song

Why do you lie
Why do you lie
Would you betray your soul
Why do you lie
Why do you lie
Dont let your weakness show
You just might be the last to know

Why do you lie
Why do you lie
Would you betray your soul
Why do you lie
Why do you lie
Dont let your weakness show
Why do you lie
Why do you lie
Only the meek follow
Why do you lie
Why do you lie
Trample the fear below
You just might be the last to know

half of our lives dissolved in fear
half of our rights they disappear
is our apathy so corrosive
where does the cycle start
hear the sirens screaming out in the distance
hold your family close to your heart

American Justice American Lies
a war of words that I despise
I wish the good cops If they exist
the very best
and a bullet for all the

complications injustice deliberations what's the deal
they fake it, we break it, and take back what they steal
we could rise black and white unbound and make them pay
for every tear, for every fear, defend our yesterdays

when they dropped the bomb on the building to kill a MOVEment
did they care where the rights of the murdered went
police terror in the eyes of the children
police terror in the streets of every town
where's our freedom when the sun goes down
and will the houses that the landlords built keep out the bullet sound

American Justice American Lies
a racist prison
anaesthetized
I wish the good cops If they exist
the very best
and a bullet for all the . . .
