Music Rap… for the Honkies

Posted by Wm. Steven Humphrey on Mon, Oct 15 at 1:59 PM

Over at Catsandbeer.com they have what could be the definitive list of “The Top Ten Rap Songs that White People Love” (and with video evidence to boot!). Naturally, they have such shameful head-shaking hits as Young MC’s “Bust a Move,” Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby,” and Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back”—but SIR! How DARE you lump Positive K’s classic “I Got a Man” in with the rest of these poseurs! While this song may have some “novelty elements,” it is still one of the greatest odes to the “holla back” ever committed to disc. And I’m not just saying that because I’m white, and I bite my lip when I dance.

did you hear nas' latest album? yes, positive k's name was mentioned in the "where are they now" song.

p.s. young mc hung around with punk rock groupies.

Will it at some point be ok for white people to like rap the same way it's ok now for white people to like jazz or the blues?

It is not ok for white people to like jazz or the blues.

Your ideas are dangerous, Casey.

Wasn't this song on an MTV Party To Go cd from the early 90's - maybe that's how it made the White People list?
