News Sit/Lie On KBOO—Now!

Posted by Matt Davis on Wed, Oct 31 at 6:09 PM

Listen to KBOO online right now—or listen on the radio at 90.7fm, and catch Sisters of the Road community organizer Patrick Nolen on the station’s poverty show Hole In The Bucket, talking about the “criminalization of homelessness”:nolen.jpgNOLEN: Video didn’t kill his radio star…

Nolen is discussing San Francisco’s attempts to follow Portland down the sit/lie road with the show’s co-host, Michael Anderson from Affordable Housing Now: “People have realized they can hate George Bush but still not want people crapping in their doorway,” it seems.

The truth is, San Francisco is full of yuppie fascist fuckers who want rid of the homeless. But you’re likely to hear a more informed version of that argument if you turn KBOO on, right now. I promise.

Plus, I thought this radio station was full of doobie-smoking hippie losers, but it turns out, they’ve got great taste in bathroom reading, they all seem to look like winners to me, and I haven’t smelt the odor of grass for a SECOND. Seriously:kboostoilet.jpg

When did not wanting someone to crap in my doorway make me a "yuppie fascist fucker"? I think it makes me pro-human dignity.

Next thing I know you'll be telling me you shop at Wild Oats and ride a fixie, therefore you're not conceited.

I just got back from there on Monday. Tons of homeless, none really sitting on the street though. All up walking around begging for change. Yuppie in certain areas yes, but on the whole San Fran is a pretty dirty and overcrowded city. In fact, the rest of the population of it is pretty Portland clad. Hipsters galore. Maybe that's the reason why some out-of-towners refer to Portland as "The San Francisco of the North West". (Seattle falls under the LA of the North West)

Difference being the price and address to linear feet ratio obviously. I counted thirty addresses in 60ft of sidewalk when I was on Haight Friday night.

Not to mention a rather liberal city. Plastic bags and styrofoam cups were outlawed there and they didn't let the military film a recruiting commercial on their streets.

Those aren't quite "yuppie fascist" acts...

Something else just came to mind.. Some homeless person shat on the doorstep of my friends neighbor in the Mission District at 24th and Shotwell. The neighbor sprayed their doorstep down with a hose and the remnants flooded under the doors of my buddy's apartment and the one next to it. Pretty shitty... literally.

Matt,
If he is the same guy that you blogged a few months ago with the beard at the sit/lie thing, tell him he is cuter without it!
Andrea

I wasn't aware the cops were even enforcing the sidewalk law! All over downtown there are kids dressed in their finest Hot Topic camo holding cardboard signs while sitting in the middle of the sidewalk. I see both the cops and the security people walk right past them. If San Francisco copies our law they better make it tougher and actually enforce it if they really want to make a difference in their city!

actually, that "Hot Topic" camo usually comes from veterans that get it from the VA then sell it to the second hand store in the ground floor of the grove.

that's the toilet paper on the tank behind you.

Ka-ZING!

I just hope the news section is the first part of the paper to lick ass.

i don't really see an argument here, san francisco is full of both yuppie fuckers who want to get rid the homeless, and homeless who crap in people's doorways and everywhere else. ("sf" now stands for "sidewalk feces")

it's a battle of attrition, but do the homeless have more crap, or the yuppies more money?

Andrea,
thanks, I shave the beard off once a year. there is only one thing I find more annoying than facial hair. shaving.

thanks
Patrick

That "sidewalk feces" thing is fucking funny.
