News TODAY’S COP LAWSUIT NUMBER FOUR: Man Sues Cops For Retaliating Against Videotaping

Posted by Matt Davis on Mon, Oct 15 at 4:27 PM

Here’s the last of today’s legal quartet against the Portland Police Bureau. Waterhouse.jpgFRANK WATERHOUSE: Was video recording police officers in May 2006, as they searched for a suspect in his friend’s yard.

Without warning, cops charged at Waterhouse, ordered him to put down the camera, and then shot him with a beanbag gun and a Taser as he was video recording them. As a result, the officers issued criminal citations against Waterhouse, although he was acquitted of all charges. Here’s the video, which goes blank with 1:20 to go, shortly after the tazing:
WATERHOUSE: Tasered and Shot without warning for videotaping cops…

The cops came towards Waterhouse immediately after he yelled “Yes, I got it all on film. They had no right to come on this property.”

“The police lied on their arrest reports,” said Waterhouse, at a press-briefing today. “They said they shot me while I was running away, but I didn’t run. It was wrong, and it violated me.”

Waterhouse, who alleges being beaten as well as Tasered and shot in retaliation for videotaping a matter of public concern, is suing for $30,000.
