Via the Portland Tribune comes news that Sho Dozono—CEO of Azumano Travel downtown—appears to have landed the website shoformayor.com. The site’s still under construction, but it was registered to Azumano Travel on November 9. Dozono’s been a rumored possible candidate for months now. I’ve called him for comment, and will let you know what he has to say.
One of the interesting dynamics in this mayor's race is that the Portland Business Alliance doesn't have a bone to pick with Adams. For several past elections, the PBA has picked and funded an opposition candidate. That's not happening now and that's why there is a decided lack of credible candidates.
Some might run Sho as the "business candidate", but I doubt if he will get much traction. Adams has a good record working with the business community, both large and small.
Cool. That's great.
Anyway, Blogtown, can we talk about something?
I haven't really told anyone about this yet.
But...
I have developed a crush on the Lille Boutique Girl.
I know, I know- I'm probably not alone in thinking that she is gorgeous but this is becoming a debilitating problem for me, especially with her new ad! Mercury, do you proof these ads before you post them on your site? Do you realize how hard it has been to focus on the interesting and often humorous topics that you write about here on Blogtown? Not to mention my inability to get any work done in my office. How am I supposed to get through the Good Morning, News! in under twenty minutes with that classy Internet beauty queen looking at me with those soft eyes and just the tiniest hint of a smile?
This isn't normally a problem for me. I find it easy to ignore the constant barrage of American Apparel ads (of course that's not saying much since amateur porn and snuff films don't really do it for me) I rarely even notice the Gilt Girl (no offense, dear, you're very pretty too but the lighting in that picture isn't terribly flattering and that IS way too much jewelry anyway) but when I see that elegant, golden-haired woman next to that Matt Davis rant, I forget all about England and rent-a-cops. Poor Amy J. Ruiz, I'd really like to find out who's behind that fake John Branam site but if I scroll down any further I wont be able to see Lille (as I've taken to calling her, against the wishes of my shrink). Do your other advertisers realize that this one ad is distracting people like me, thus rendering their banners useless to us? I mean I just now figured out that Berbatti's is 'Now A Non-Smoking Venue', I still have no idea that Jolly Roger's has live reggae every weekend and even though I'm a graphics designer, Jackpot is having a hard time selling me Helvetica when I see those black stockings on the other side of the bolg post.
Of course, if I were in the market for some fancy lingerie, Lille's ad would be a blessing instead of hurting my loved ones and putting my employment in jeopardy. But alas, Lille, my affection is all I have to offer.
Mercury, I hope you think about the lives your ruining when you take Lille Boutique's advertising dollars every month. (Don't worry Lille, this isn't Your fault.)
i went to japan the summer after senior year in high school. my plane tickets and travel was planned through azumano travel. if sho's mayoral run will be anything like that trip, i'm totally voting for that guy.
p.s. i have a crush on cindy the erotic pleaser
I first met Sho as a kid about 30 yrs ago. He was an assistant coach @ Grant High where my father taught. He then realized where the money was I guess.
Sho has been involved in some great community events including the few trips like Oregonians for NYC and Oregonians for New Orleans. These were trips intended to show NYC and NOLA that Oregonian cared and wanted to come and visit even though the cities were struggling (Post 9/11 and Post Katrina.)
I'm interested to see what his politics are.
Thank you PR Walters for your refreshing and original perspective.

It's really a shame that it isn't shofomayor.com
