Portland Candlelight Vigil Tomorrow Night for Dan Callaway

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Mon, Nov 19 at 12:31 PM

As promised, details on the candlelight vigil mourning Dan Callaway: Tomorrow (Tuesday), 8 pm, Q Center, 69 SE Taylor. Please bring candles. From the press release:

Tuesday’s gathering will be an opportunity for the community to come together and support Dan’s partner Jonny Shultz and family, mother Karyn Callaway and father Phil Callaway of Philomath; and younger brother Jesse Callaway of Portland. Dan, who worked as a cancer researcher in the Oncology department of Legacy Good Samaritan, will be remembered as a community activist, avid bike commuter, the life of the party and an expert in the art of practical jokes. Jonny and those close to Dan need the love and support of their community during this sad time.

Well I’ve met Dan several times, but, I really did not know him well. My heart goes out to my very good friends; Phil and Karen!!! I am so, so, sad for your loss.

I am shocked that in the world we live in, things like this happen to good people. This is senseless and unconscionable.

With most respect and sincerity,

Your friend,

Rusty

um - fucking unbelievable??!
Dan, you have so many people who love you so hard, it's like a bomb went off. I don't understand what you do with stuff like this, but loving and supporting friends is a start. We'll all do our best to be there for Jonny, your parents, your brother, all the millions of people who are weathering a really scary, deep loss...

John, my heart goes out to you and Dan's family and friends. I am so sorry for your loss...

I have been trying to helping Shante with flights so hopefully she can be there and represent for all of us who LOVE YOU SO MUCH here in OHIO!!

I remember eating with you and you always taking in WAY too much mayo just to watch me squirm. :D I will miss you!
