No doubt the time has arisen when you’ve desperately needed to make a videogame-centric joke, yet weren’t able to come up with one on the fly. It’s happened to all of us, and often! But let me cut you in on a secret—here is the best videogame joke ever:
“Duke Nukem Forever.”
There it is, folks: Setup and punchline, all in one.
Easily the most delayed and overhyped game ever (well, except for maybe Daikatana), Duke Nukem Forever is an unasked-for resurrection of the ’90s gaming icon, and it’s been in development for no less than 10 years. For over a decade, developer 3D Realms has been swearing that Forever was going to come out, despite a hilarious list of development woes and a nonstop stream of well-deserved ridicule.
Anyway, they just came out with their latest teaser trailer, which ends with the tagline “stay tuned.” I can’t tell if they’re trying to be funny or not. Either way somebody put this damn thing out of its misery already.
And hey, just for fun, why not watch another teaser for the game—this one from 1998.

It's really the only reigning champion. Half Life 2 came out 3 years ago, Team Fortress 2 came out this year, Prey came out last year, and Starcraft 2 has been announced, and there's no way Blizzard/Activision won't be able to throw enough money at that.
