Artsy Fergie Darling

Posted by Alison Hallett on Tue, Dec 11 at 11:22 AM

There’s yet another upstart theater company in town, and this one has a pedigreed artistic director. The brand new Re-Theatre Instrument’s Jason Zimbler has an “entertainment career spanning 3 decades,” including credits on the the Broadway musical Shenandoah and directing work with NYC’s Impetuous Theater Group.

Oh, and also?

Zimbler is best known for his role as Ferguson Darling, the world’s brattiest little brother on Clarissa Explains It All

Which brings us to this conceptually brilliant video from Brooklyn band the XYZ Affair. Grown-up Fergie, Bobby Budnick from Salute Your Shorts, and Big Pete (who has not aged well) take their revenge on Marc Summers, host of Nickelodeon’s Double Dare, who hates fun. I would suggest watching with the sound off because the song itself is very not good.

Look for Re-Theatre’s contemporary take on Faust early next year.

You had me trippin that the double dare host was somehow Ferg's dad, but I think you meant Marc Summers, not Marc Zimbler.

Yeah, Allison, next time you want to talk about Double Dare, ask an old geezer like me who actually remembers the show because he watched it like 8000 times and dreamed, OH DREAMED, of getting to be on the show.

Also, if you ever want a lesson about the harsh realities of life and how DREAMS DON'T ALWAYS COME TRUE, SO GET BACK TO WORK AND STOP COMPLAINING YOU LITTLE BRAT, I can offer one of those, too.

Oh oh sorry! Fixed.

Still broken...Marc Summers...not that i really care :-)

jesus. thanks.

I don't care much as I could for the song, but I like the singer's falsetto!

Holy balls. Watching that is like seeing the universe fold in on itself, and then run up and kick you sqare in sack.

They should've recruited Donkey Lipps and that annoying Jordan Knight looking motherfucker from Hey Dude, just to round it out a bit.

Also, that chick from Secret Life of Alison Mack go-go dancing in the back ground.

I hate my life.
