Anyone sit down to play Mass Effect yet? I'm surprised I didn't lose a job over that one... GTA 4 better not be the tipping point.

Expect the Speed Racer trailer on Blogtown shortly; I just got in to the office, but I'm dying to check it out. Heard it would be out soon yesterday; been looking forward to it all morning.

And yes, holy shit--Mass Effect is excellent. We'll be reviewing it in next week's issue, but yeah. There are definitely some issues with the game (cough*MatriarchBeneziafight*cough) but overall, Bioware's latest is, I think, exactly the sort of story-based, epic game that shows off a lot of the very best aspects of videogames. I haven't enjoyed a game this much since Jade Empire, and (assuming the game holds up, as I'm only about 11 hours in so far) I probably won't enjoy another as much until the next Mass Effect.
