Yahoo Sports is reporting on a huge trade rumor going around involving the Blazers.
In the proposed trade, Dallas and Portland would send the Nets a package that includes the Mavs’ Devean George and Jerry Stackhouse and Blazers forwards Travis Outlaw and Channing Frye and guard Jarrett Jack. Mavericks point guard Devin Harris would be sent to Portland. Along with Kidd, the Nets would send reserve forward Malik Allen and center Jamaal Magloire to Dallas.
Woah. I love me some Devin Harris, and he is the exact kind of point guard this team needs, but there is no way in hell this is going to happen. Travis Outlaw has gone from lanky trade bait to golden god, and I doubt the Blazers will part with him and lose their best late scorer, best bench player, and one of the best liked players on the team.
Blazers fans, your thoughts?
I’ll be live-bloggin’ tonight’s (early 6pm) game against Cleveland and then talking to the players after the game. If you have any advice about Jersey living for Outlaw, I’ll pass it on.
Pritchard already squashed this rumor. He said the team has put way too much effort into developing Outlaw, and that as result, he's effectively untradeable for the immediate future. He said that there is zero discussion re this Portland/Jersey/Dallas trade (at least from Portland's angle), and that any potential trade the Blazers consider will have to include either Miles or LaFrenz (which this one doesn't).
Besides the untradeable Miles and LaFrenz (no other team wants them), Jack and Webster are the two guys in the regular rotation that actually have some trade value that I wouldn't be overly upset to see moved if a good deal came along.
Jack and Webster for Harris? Sure.
Jack, Outlaw, and Frye for Harris? No way.
What, is Whitsett (with his avowed lack of knowledge of chemistry) back in charge?
Is his day the team had bad chemistry and he made it worse with his trades for Schrempf and Strickland. Now they have great chemistry so why would they want to ruin it? Keep the crew they have - the best is yet to come from this team!
It's a ridiculous trade for the blazers, and who else but Bill Walton was the one on ESPN that squashed the rumor. He says the most obvious things, but this time the others were blind to what was obvious.
I do think that we need to unload two or three players for one, i think rodriguez and lafrentz don't fit in well. if we can get, not a vet, but someone like james jones who knows the game but isn't past his prime in return, then not only do i think that will help us, but it also will create more room for rudy fernandez and GO.
As for miles, gosh, let's just keep him. his contract is gone in a year and change, right when we're going to have to resign roy and aldridge, i believe. no sense in trading him off, not like we'd get anyone good..
The best teams in any sport play together for an extended period of time with little or no change to the lineup. Portland needs to learn this. It seems like the fans are finally starting to get this point and I thought that the management understood this too, but now I dunno'....

Travis Outlaw has shown a lot of potential and it will be tough to part with that guy. Frye and Jack are after thoughts and Devin Harris has shown some promise this year.
I'm surprised that Dallas would give up Harris for Kidd. I guess Dallas feels the window for an NBA title is closing rapidly.
