An alert reader just pointed me toward cesarechavezboulevard.com, which has this notice:
César E. Chávez Boulevard Committee Community Work SessionSaturday, February 2, 2008
3pm – 6pm
PCC- Cascade Campus
Room TBA
705 N. Killingsworth St.
Portland, OR
Join us to discuss and plan the next steps in our effort to recognize our American Hero César E. Chávez
I’m looking into it, to see what the committee has planned.
Why on Earth would an American city want to force a name change on all the residents and businesses of a street - to name it after a Mexican Socialist activist?
Unfukn real.
Do they have these type of problems in other cities? I mean with street names or is it just a Portland gripe?
This must be stopped NOW. These people just don't get it! We (Portland'ers) do NOT want a street named after the mexican terrorist.
These "activists" must be stopped or they will ruin our city even more!
Wow. I wonder if they will really try to rename north interstate again. We'll see more about the sense of entitlement the group has. The group is also amazing at at polarizing Portland instead of bringing it together by using cheap tactics of racism. Portland is to smart to go through this mess of a process again. Cesar was a great man that has not been honored by this selfish committee.
