News Good Morning, News!

Posted by Amy J. Ruiz on Mon, Jan 7 at 7:40 AM

Sho Dozono finally returns a phone call, says he’ll announce he’s running for mayor this morning, after months of avoiding the press but setting up exploratory websites. He told the Oregonian he’s going to try for public financing, which would mean breaking all records and collecting 1,500 $5 contributions and signatures by the 31st.

Today at the Supreme Court, the justices will hear arguments on whether lethal injectionviolates the constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment.

Shins keyboardist Marty Crandall is out of jail following a domestic violence arrest on Friday night (Blogtown broke the story yesterday morning).

NBC might pull the plug on the Golden Globes telecast, because the awards show will suck thanks to the writers’ strike.

Hillary Clinton hopes for a comeback in New Hampshire tomorrow. Barack Obama says her campaign is “depressing.”

The post-election violence in Kenya is now a “humanitarian crisis.”

Speaking of humanitarian crisises: Britney Spears’ entire staff is about to abandon her.

Mz. Ruiz,

Re: Crandall

Blogtown taking credit for breaking a recycled story from pitchfork seems a bit needy.

We didn't recycle it from Pitchfork——I don't read that site, and neither of us could find anything online yesterday when Ezra and I were discussing whether or not to post it, though I see that their time stamp is ahead of ours.

Nice work, Bygones. I hope the Internets police give you a promotion.

OOOOOOH, DISSSSSS!
