Portland Late Night WiFi in Inner SE?

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Thu, Jan 24 at 11:17 AM

As of this week, my upstairs neighbor has pulled up his stakes and moved, thereby abolishing the sweet deal we had wherein I get to use his wireless internet and I don’t complain that our communal washer and dryer are hooked up to my electric bill. So until a new wifi-havin’ neighbor moves in, I am up poop creek without a paddle as far as internettin’ at home on my weekend nights (partay!).

There are lots of coffee shops in my ‘hood during the days and evenings with wifi, but I’m specifically looking for a place I can go on a Friday night that’s open at least until midnight, and won’t be so cacophonous and crazy that I’ll have to worry about either not having anyplace to sit down, or having some staggering drunk spill beer on my keyboard on their way to the blasting jukebox. (That’s not to say I don’t want to go to a bar, just want to avoid the whole “Friday night, fuck or fight” crowd.)

Is there such a thing in inner SE, specifically? Or have I found something I really want that Portland can’t give me… yet?

Fireside Lodge (SE Powell & (I think) 20th) is the only place I can think of.

You might try the Clinton Corner Cafe.. the bar is pretty mellow, and I think the cafe side stays open as long as the bar does...

Try that Mud something rather place on Belmont, they are open late. If not them there is another coffee shop within a 2 block radius of there open until midnight. Sorry not much help on the names of them.

Not my favorite place but...
The Shop on Belmont
2511 SE Belmont

They've got a fireplace, couches, chess... it's pretty quiet and they're open until midnight every night except Sunday...but you should be Zoobombing on Sunday nights.

What about Palio on Ladd's Circle?

The Shop on 25th and Belmont (formerly Portland Coffee House) is open 'til midnight Monday-Saturday.

Palio in Ladd's, but they're open only until 11. Comfy, though.

Legares Community Resource Center (Cafe) on Clinton between 15th and 16th is open til about 11PM. Very good food, tea, and coffee. It is usually pretty relaxing and mellow, though there are occasional events such as movie screenings.

What about Tiny's? Don't they have wireless?

Stop being a douche and get your own internet like the rest of us.

Don't know if you'd consider it inner SE...but the Night Lite has internet and cool vibe.

Fireside Lodge has wifi, but that place is CREEPY.

CREEPY, I said.

Squeeze on belmont and 15th-ish has wi-fi and it's a bar so it's open late. as is basement pub...but then you smell like smoke......
