News Let’s Have A Taser Party!

Posted by Matt Davis on Fri, Jan 25 at 3:42 PM

Because Tupperware parties are so old-hat.

In Arizona, Tupperware-style Taser parties have become all the rage, thanks to the enterprising savvy of saleswoman Dana Shafman, founder of Shieldher Inc.

Shafman’s little soirees aren’t just popular, they’re also highly profitable. Over light conversation and snacks, women are invited to handle the palm-sized C2, the latest (and smallest) civilian version of a Taser stun gun. The C2 is also the most affordable Taser to hit the market, starting at $299.99-with an option to upgrade the C2 with a $50 laser beam to better the chances of debilitating a human target. Because practice makes perfect, the women in attendance are encouraged to grab a C2 and take turns shooting at a cardboard cutout representing a male attacker.

I felt that we have Tupperware parties and candle parties to protect our food and house, so why not have a Taser party to learn how to protect our lives and bodies?” Shafman told the the Arizona Republic. Shafman projects that the parties will be held in at least a half-dozen other states by March.

More here. Try not to weep too hard for the state of this country.

I think someone missed the point. But seriously, tazer toting red-state
hausfraus make me uneasy. The ultimate symbol of xenophobia.

meh.

You would trust your life, and the life of your loved ones to a 9 volt battery?

I have some concerns...namely that some folks, specifically those who are on multiple narcotics, seem to be relatively immune from the incapacitating effects. Also, the potential for abuse.

Not to mention that the person actually has to be too damned close to you to effectively use a taser. Close enough to get you with a knife, a club, or a taser of their own.

Put your trust in two things: running shoes and .357. If you can't RUN away, or that is ineffective, shoot them. Center of mass. Keep pulling the trigger, until they are not a threat, then stay back with 911 on the phone til the police arrive. Be prepared to wait...average response time for the police in our fair city is about 5 and half minutes, IIRC.

The miracle of the firearm is that a 90lb disabled woman in a wheelchair has the capability of defending herself (and her loved ones) on the equal footing of a 300 lb, 6'5 man who is bent on evil. No longer is is the survival of the biggest, or the strongest, or tyranny over the weak.

Remember folks, RUN first, and then shoot to stop. Leave the fancy gizmos at home, where they can open your garage door.

TASERS ARE GREAT BUT NOT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE KIDS OR LIVE IN AN ABUSIVE HOUSEHOLD. REGARDLESS OF GOOD INTENTIONS IF YOU HAVE KIDS THEY WILL FIND IT. WOMEN WOULD USUALLY KEEP A TASER IN THEIR PURSE OR COAT POCKETS WHICH IS ONE OF THE FIRST PLACES KIDS AND TEENS WILL SEARH FOR GUM AND MONEY.

WHAT ABOUT ABUSERS WHO HAVE ESCAPED BEING REPORTED BECAUSE THEY LIVE WITH THEIR VICTUMS WHO ARE AFRAID OF REPORTING THEM? IF THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN REPORTED THEY WILL HAVE ACCESS TO PURCHASE A TASER AND USE IT FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS.

I HAVE OWNED A TASER FOR APPROX 20 YEARS AND I LIKED HAVING ONE AS SINGLE PERSON AND EVEN MARRIED WITHOUT KIDS BUT ONCE YOU HAVE KIDS IT'S A BIG DANGER ZONE.

ALSO BEWARE A TASER DOES NOT WORK ON EVERYONE MY DAD (200LBS & 5FT 11 INCHES) HAD SOME FRIENDS TEST IT ON HIM & HE WENT DOWN BUT WHEN MY BOYFRIEND TESTED ON HIS VOLUNTEER POTHEAD FREIND (APPROX 160LBS & 6FT) NOTHING HAPPENED. I AM UNDER THE IMPRESSION IF THE PERP IS SUBSTANCE ABUSING IT MAY NOT BE RELIABLE.

THE TASER WAS A GIFT FROM MY DAD AFTER I WAS ROBBED AT GUN POINT AT AN ATM MACHINE.

I BELIEVE THEY OFFER MORE COMPACT VERSIONS NOW BUT BE VERY VERY CAREFUL IF YOU HAVE KIDS. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS OUT OF REACH IN MY HOUSE AND YOU MAY NOT FIND THAT OUT UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE. I AM NOT SURE OF THE EFFECTS OF A TASER ON A CHILD OR YOUNG PERSON BUT IN EVEN THE BEST CASE SCENARIO THEY WILL BE TRAMATIZED.

BE RESPONSIBLE & SAFE FROM MI
