I hope their lawyers are prepared. boyscoutuniform.jpg
BOY SCOUT: Working for his “molested” badge…

Here are the allegations, sent by publicist for the lawyer filing the suit tomorrow:

The Plaintiff is bringing suit for abuse he suffered in the late 1970s at the hands of Scout Leaders Steven Terry Hill and Thomas Hensley, according to Portland attorney Kelly Clark, who frequently handles such cases on behalf of adult victims of child abuse. The Troop, #76, was apparently sponsored by the Benjamin Franklin Savings & Loan. One of the abusers, Stephen Terry Hill, was convicted in the early 1990s of multiple counts related to child sexual abuse and delivering controlled substances to a minor. He and Hensley are thought to have been active as leaders in the Boy Scouts during the 1970s–80s.

According to Clark, the suit will name the Boy Scouts of America and the Cascade Pacific Counsel of the Boys Scouts as defendants. The case will be filed in the Circuit Court for the State of Oregon in the County of Multnomah at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow.

I’m not sure how all this works, what with the statute of limitations and so on. But I’ve got a call in to the attorney, Kelly Clark, and I’ll update you tomorrow.

Comments

I'm no lawyer, but I think violent sex crimes have no statute of limitations. And child sex abuse is basically rape.
