I screwed up: Jim Lee DID respond, and I saw his response—he sent it in on the 21st—but I managed to completely ignore it. So he gets his own post to make up for my stupid mistake.

On racial profiling…

Has Portland seen progress in this area? What can be done to further improve police-community relations?

Ok, so I read his response twice now and it really concerns me.

Is Lee saying that the Police ultimately are the only ones responsible for and the only ones that can do their own oversight and disclipline? Whoa. That's fucked up.

and Two, sounds like Lee has no interest in even dealing with the Portland Police Bureau at all, stating in advance he will be giving this bureau to another Council Member. Hmmm... red flag, red flag and what a cop-out (no pun intended answer).

Thanks Lee, you just made it is easier for me to vote come election day.

I'm naive. Hadn't done my research. Didn't realize what a whack-job he actually was until after this post.
