Food Plan B

I visited Plan B over the weekend (the old Acme) and found it to be comfortable, inviting, and worthwhile. The highlight of the menu is the terrific slider (those pocket-sized burgers); you get two at a time and there are a few different configurations (cheese, mushrooms, bacon, etc.). The beef was infused with IPA, and I didn’t particularly notice it, but I am all in favor of the ability to simultaneously ingest beer and meat. It saves time, really. The fries were everything one could want out of a hot, salted potato. The beer selection on tap was respectable, including one from the Ninkasi brewery in Eugene that’s as good as beer gets.

There’s also the option of getting avocado on nearly everything, from your burger to your BLT. (This is something I would like to see more of. I’d like the option of having avocado in my coffee, on my cereal, in my taco, on my cheesecake.) They served these fantastic pickles on the side: crispy, spicy, not too vinegary. It turns out they’d been marinating with some jalapenos, which accounted for the kick. There’s vegetarian fare, too, if you wanna. (I didn’t wanna.)

Anyway, they were playing great tunes over the sound system, and Acme’s fantastically huge patio hasn’t gone anywhere. They’re doing live shows on the weekends, too. (Send us your calendar, Plan B, so we can get you in the music schedule!) So if you’ve been resisting checking it out due to some sort of allegiance to the old Acme, it’s time to get over it.

I will attest to the newfound betterness of the space. I was there on the first night, been to a show, and a few late night drinks.

Plus Heather is super nice deserves the success Plan B is sure to have.
