Inner SE art gallery small A projects has just announced a new screening series that finds three of Portland’s best minds curating film nights, while adding their own slant to the event. Dubbed “Lovely Petaluma,” the series kicks off this Thursday with an evening of film and music programmed by artist Dana Dart-McLean.

1/17 Dart-McLean presents Fantasia with live musical accompaniment by Danny Sasaki and Waren Lee’s band Problems (with guest Kelvin Pittman on sax), Tara Jane O’Neil (TJO), Liz Harris (Grouper), Micheal Whittaker (Lemon Bear) and Brian Mumford (Dragging an Ox through Water).

1/24 Artist Storm Tharp presents Elizabeth Taylor (excerpts from Boom, Suddenly Last Summer, and A Place in the Sun) and discusses “what a crazed and unsubtle actress she (Elizabeth Taylor) is – and how great she is in her badness.”

1/31 Writer Jon Raymond hosts a Robert Altman Double Feature, including California Split and Popeye, and tells us something about the concept and coke-addled backstory of its making …

All events are free and start at 7 pm. small A is located at 1430 SE 3rd.
