News Homeless Center: Old Town Lofts Residents Petition Mayor

Posted by Matt Davis on Tue, Feb 5 at 3:21 PM

48 residents of the Old Town Lofts have signed a petition, delivered to Mayor Tom Potter this morning, against siting the planned new homeless center on block 25, opposite their building:oldtownletterpetition.jpg
PETITION: 48 signatures…

“We feel like we’re the least heard of all the various groups and organizations that have been discussing the center,” says the petition coordinator, Dan Feiner. “We’re not social services, we’re not developers, we don’t have lobbyists, we’re just us.”

Feiner dropped the petition off at city hall this morning and attempted to meet personally with each city commissioner. Nobody was available to speak with him, he says.

If he keeps this up, Feiner may cause Commissioner Sten some actual bother. Assuming, of course, that the Oregonian editorial board hasn’t already signed off on putting the center on block 25, in which case, this is probably the only place you’ll hear of any resistance.

Comments

Finally, someone speaking up for the residents who have been ignored by City Hall.
