News Ign!te Portland—Mercury Video

Posted by Matt Davis on Wed, Feb 6 at 3:06 PM

I’ve no !dea whether Ign!te Portland actually has an exclamation mark in its brand!ng, instead of an ‘i’. But it should do. Because it’s young, and hip, and edgy, and the Mercury’s video chap, V!ncent Caldon!, was there last night, with a video camera, along with 750 other people:

IGN!TE PORTLAND: Senssssationally hottttt…

!’m all for getting excited, and ign!ted, and all the rest. But what did you make of the evening? Was it a)the most amazing night ever or b)sh!te? Do tell, in the comments…

I thought it was a lot of fun, an event put together and attended by lots of creative and energetic people. The range of topics in the presentations was wide enough to interest anyone.

It was not the most amazing night ever, nor was it shit. If you didn't attend, I don't understand your need to belittle it with your edgy non-edgy jokes. Is that what passes for clever at this rag?

Yes.

The thing I find most humorous about this is that the bulk of the people there--myself included--weren't particular young, necessarily hip, or all that edgy.

They just had something to say.

I mean, I don't even qualify as "young at heart." I'm old. Old old old. Practically decrepit.

Still fit in. And I think you would too. It would be great to have you in attendance at Ignite Portland 3.

I actually wanted to come along last night, but the Old Town Neighbors wouldn't have it.

Great idea. I applaud the organizers for doing something different. And pulling it off in a fun, non pretentious way. Here's hoping it becomes a monthly event.

Dear Brit,

"But it should," or "But it should do so," but not, "But it should do."

Sincerely,

Yank
