Homo School Play Yanked For Being Gay

Posted by Matt Davis on Thu, Feb 21 at 1:45 PM

Sherwood school administrators have yanked a school play about a boy bullied for shrugging off an argument over whether he’s straight or gay. Straight up homophobic cowardice, if you ask me. Of course, the Oregonian takes a more “balanced line.” Read it here.

Personally I loved being gay in high school. It was all boys. We had no choice. At least, that’s my line and I’m sticking to it.

That school Principal is so gay!

It is sad that in this day and age you can still ban a play just cause it might have a gay subtext. Heven help us all if todays school children learn a lil bit about homosexuality in the classroom.

I learned most about it in the toilets. But occasionally in the classroom too.

Tommy and I used to play "the priest and the altar boy" in the janitor closet all the time...I was always the altar boy.

When will the majority of Americans realize that if you inform children early about all aspects of life that they tend to make better choices later on?
I may not have kids; but if I ever do the "Where do babies come from" and "What's a gay" (etc) sort of questions will not be put off. I can make a fairly certain promise that they will not end up teen prego, in jail or doing copious amounts of drugs.

p.s. Is it not the job of a school to educate instead of placating to the sensitive dispositions of parents with ethically, morally and logically reprehensible prejudices?

I couldn't agree more Dex. The whole idea of sheltering schoolchildren from difficult concepts is ludicrous. They're in school to learn. Far too many children are learning intolerance. Sanity forbid they learn that gay people exist and they deserve respect.
