Marking the 5th anniversary of the invasion, about a thousand people marched today to protest the war in Iraq. All went off without a hitch. It rained throughout but people were mostly in good spirits. No trouble between protesters and cops.
Soggy protesters

Soggy U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Merkley talking to some soggy folks
Great pictures, M-eyes and unpaid intern.
I've been hoping to find some pictures from the eastern leg of the march (closest to the river). When I went through there with the Jeff Merkley folks it was hailing and there I was in my t-shirt (having loaned my coat to my daughter), soaked to the bone and having a blast! I think I might have ruined some decent suede shoes, between all the rain and the mud at the park blocks where I'd spent several hours before hand too.
There was a realy big Merkley presence there all day. Big and very visible. I didn't see anything from any political candidates (for any office) that even came close to it.
thanks
I road my bike early towards morrison bridge but didnt know where they were going to march to.
I'll be honest i dont know much about Jeff Merkley, so I decided to sign the email list to get informed.
