News Blackmer/Copwatch Go Head To Head Tonight On Cop Review

Posted by Matt Davis on Wed, Mar 12 at 9:47 AM

The League Of Women Voters is hosting a panel to discuss police accountability this evening, at 7pm in the Board Room of the Multnomah Building, 501 SE Hawthorne.

Recent tensions over a controversial report on the Independent Police Review, coupled with the polar opposite opinions of some of those on the panel, mean this evening’s event promises to be somewhat interesting. In other words, there might be shouting. I’ll see you there:

Participating in the discussion will be Gary Blackmer, Portland City Auditor; Michael Bigham, Chair of the Citizen Review Committee; Dan Handelman, co-founder of Portland Copwatch; Alejandro Queral, former director of the Northwest Constitutional Rights Center; and Darleane Lemley, League member and longtime citizen activist on police oversight issues. League member Barbara Dudley, Assistant Adjunct Professor at Portland State University, will moderate the discussion.
