I was wondering if this would happen—if someone would file for office simply to launch an appeal at Sho Dozono’s public financing certification.
Not that Bruce Broussard hasn’t needed much of a reason to run for office before… he’s what we like to call a perennial candidate. He filed for office today. And then filed an appeal:
March 11, 2008 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEThis afternoon, Bruce Broussard, candidate for Mayor, filed a Request For Hearing.
Mr. Broussard states that “I believe that Sho Dozono violated public financing laws by not claiming his poll that was dated December 21, 2007. The poll which cost $27,295 violates in kind contribution limits.” Further, Mr. Broussard states that “In kind contributions are capped at $12,000 for publicly financed candidates.”
Amy, how much did Sam Adams pay you to make Broussard do this?
Kyle, you've apparently got better access than I do (how much is Sam paying you? KIDDING!). I've got two calls in to find out more about the hearing... haven't heard back yet.
Seriously, I think this puts the lie to the conspiracy theories floated elsewhere by the Sho-hos. Would Sam hook up with Broussard? Not a chance -- the Golovan trial is too fresh in peoples' minds, and Adams is astute enough to recognize that.
Broussard has filed to run for every office in every local election since I can remember. Last year the idiot filed to run for two offices at the same time... and was disqualified from both.
He ought to pay for a permanent page in the voter's pamphlet... kind of like having your name on a booth in your favorite restaurant.
And yes, he is the same Bruce Broussard that the judge in the Vladamir Golovan trial wished he could have thrown in jail... along with Boyles and Tate.
Bruce, face the fact that you are a clown. Go home. Let the adults play election.
...but when even the clowns think you've fucked up, it can't be a good sign. Kind of like when Barry Goldwater and Billy Graham finally walked away from Richard Nixon.
Even so, if Sho can tap into some kid's trust fund for money for more cops & better streets, he might become a civic hero. You never know.
So… Public funding is bringing out the crazies among PRIVATELY FINANCED candidates! But I thought it was supposed to be the OPPOSITE??? Sigh…
I call 'em when I see 'em - Bruce is a lame, lame duck, as Corey Pein put it in Wweek - can't even read his penmanship
Oh well, three's company makes a LAME DUCK PARTY!
For all you "follow Sam around like a puppy dog" writers here: Jeff, Eliot and anony
check the records that come out tomorrow - Sam's camp is on the public record for contacting the Auditor's office today with some very interesting news....
Sam Adams' campaign asked to submit evidence to the 3 appeals filed from the Sam Adams campaign without having to file a complaint. and there is more...
Ha Ha you fools. It's all about Sam - although it's all about him being a POOR SPORT
I know a very big publication that is coming out with this tomorrow, and if Amy Ruiz doesn't check the facts herself and report on it, we'll know exactly who tucks Ms Ruiz in at night
I hate being tucked in. Nothing drives me more crazy than sheets that are tucked in—especially at the foot of the bed. Your toes get pinned down!
OK -- I haven't found the big blowout story in "a very big publication." Anyone have a link?

Do these multiple filings actually accomplish anything? I was talking to someone in the auditor's office this afternoon, and he made it sound like there was only going to be one hearing.
